From Elvis and Major MacDill (aka "Airman Ally Gator") to the 10 foot 493 pound "monster" caught in Barksdale's very own Flag Lake the American alligator is keystone species of the Southeast, the American alligator inhabits freshwater wetlands and rivers, preying on fish, turtles, and mammals while creating vital habitats for other wildlife.

Performs heavy aircraft maintenance and develops innovative practices to sustain long-term fleet health for assigned B-52H Stratofortresses to ensure nuclear and conventional combat capability.

Created for the 2d LRS POL which is responsible for the storage, quality control, and distribution of petroleum, oil, lubricant, and cryogenic products to support B-52H Stratofortress aircraft, government vehicles, and emergency equipment at Barksdale Air Force Base.

The Barksdale AFB Gator is a mascot and symbol representing the units and community at Barksdale AFB, Louisiana, often featured in local events and as part of the base's identity within the 2d Bomb Wing and Air Force Global Strike Command.
